It is a major health problem that challenges not only health care professionals but also the pharmaceutical industry and drug regulatory agencies. Synthetic drugs cause side effects, even leading to an increase in blood pressure. Therefore, herbal drugs are much sought after now a days due to being side effect free and cost effective also. Herbal drugs have been used since the dawn of civilization and organized existence. The present review is aimed at summarizing information on clinical trials of various medicinal plants used in managing hypertension.
